How do I adjust the Legend Etna rear shock absorber?

Adjusting the Exa Form A5-RE rear shock absorber on the Legend Etna

    Model: Exa Form A5-RE

The A5-RE is a single-air-chamber shock absorber. It has a main-pressure valve marked MP; it does not have the negative-pressure valve found on the A5-RR1.

    1. Calculate your riding weight. Include your clothing, helmet, backpack and any equipment you normally carry.
    2. Use a shock pump. Do not use a standard tyre pump or an air compressor.
    3. Set an initial pressure. The recommended main-chamber range is 100–150 psi. As a starting point, use approximately 1.5–2 psi per kilogram of total riding weight, while remaining within the recommended range.
    4. Test the bike. Adjust the pressure in small steps. Slightly lower pressure can improve comfort and sensitivity. Slightly higher pressure can reduce bottoming out under heavier loads or larger impacts.
    5. Do not exceed 180 psi. If you cannot obtain a safe setting within the recommended range, ask a qualified bicycle mechanic for assistance.

    Basic maintenance

    • Clean the shock with warm water and a soft, lint-free cloth. Do not use solvents, degreasers, waxes or a pressure washer.
    • Lubricate the main shaft with a suitable suspension lubricant every 25–30 hours of use or after a long period of storage.
    • Do not disassemble the shock. Internal servicing must be carried out by a qualified service centre.

See the Exa Form A5 user manual for the manufacturer's complete instructions.
